I discovered your site today when I was sitting here dreaming about Paleochora! Have been there just 2 times on day trips from the north of Crete, now I am planning for å longer stay, and your site give inspiration! Nice hippie-pitcures too!! Wish you a happy new year!!

Die Erläuterungen zur finanzpolitischen Situation finde ich klasse! Norbert, stammen die von dir? Ich verfolge das Wachstum deiner Seiten mit großem Interesse. War ebenfalls 1978 das erste Mal dort. Und seitdem hat dieser Ort meine Seele berührt und ich fahre immer wieder hin. Mit Frau, mit Sohn, und bald mit meinen Enkeln. Der Artikel hilft verstehen. ich war auch oft und lange in pale
das erste mal 1976 und dann immer wieder über monate.
lebte auch in azogires mit echt netten hippies zusammen
kann dieses dorf nicht mehr vergessen ist als bin ich von meiner heimat weit entdernt

Für die Kunst-und Paleliebhaber. Auf der Strecke zwischen Chania und Pale gibt es den Ort Dromonero. Dort gibt es eine ständige Ausstellung moderner Kunst, die liebevoll von Ioannis Arhontakis curatiert ist. Unter www.olivepress.eu gibt es eine gute Einstimmung. Wir hatten Glück am 2.10. eine Tanztheateraufführung nach einem Stück von Heiner Müller dort zu erleben. Kalos Chimona

Hallo, wir waren im letzten jahr für eine Woche in Pale. Es hat uns super giut gefallen. Nächste Woche gehen wir wieder hin. Geniesst die Ruhe und die feundlichen Menschen dort. Wir waren jedes Jahr im Norden, das Wasser im Süden ist viel besser, und weniger Touris machen was aus, auch was Freundlichkeit in den Tavernen und die Preise angeht. In der Nähe von Pale haben wir traumhafte Badebuchten gefunden.

wer war Megafitness 1992?
Camping and club at that time?
The whole club went for lamb soup to the village ! which taverna was it?
Is the village still the same?
Even on facebook i can only guess!

Club in 1992? My first son and his friends from Austria lit at fire on thhe dancefloor which was well appreciated by the dancers.

Soup? Must have been the "Taxi Drivers Kneipe". You can buy sports shoes there now, but they don't taste as good.

The village changed. People are the same.

I don't know any Lisa. Prefere brown haired and brown/green eyed with Greek names.

Ugly? After 34 years? I just don't want to be punished for sticking to Crete.
I think ports, airports and hospitals should be kept out. A lot of people on Crete think the same. In September I'll be back, landing in Iraklio. Chania would be more comfortable but, paying the same price, I decided to go to Iraklio just to leave the money on Crete (Taxi) not at a German Airline. Think more, the story is longer than you can imagine.

Thank you so much for documenting your experiences at Paleohora. Some wonderful photos.

I've not seen your site before but my first visit was in 1989 and I've been back about 5 times, but have been absent for 8 years due to the pressures of modern living and babies! Travelling there tomorrow. Aaahh.

I particularly enjoyed your words on Cafe Almyrida as I've had many a time sitting there looking for Dolphins and Kingfishers... before the road was built. I look forward to seeing Stelios again.

I'll be staying at Christos from the 14th June.

Michalis der Zuckerbäcker auf der Hauptstr. ist geschlossen.
Schade ,wieder ein Stück altes Paleochora verschwunden. Wie haben die Süssigkeiten, die Kuchen und der Raki so gut geschmeckt.The times they are a changing...

Hi Lefteris. I simply don't know. It's not my webcam. But they have a lot of powercuts now, lasting only for a second, but lots of them. Maybe this simply makes it senseless to try to keep the cam going.
